What is a DOMAIN?

Domain, or domain name, is the unique website URL, e.g. www.ecomail.cz. However, you do not use the domain only for your site, but also for sending your business emails. For example, info@ecomail.cz, support@ecomail.cz, veronika@ecomail.cz, etc.

From which domain can I submit my newsletters?

In order to ensure the highest possible delivery, it is not possible to use a free-mail address (@ mail.co.uk, @ gmail.com, etc.) for mass distribution of newsletters. Providers of mailboxes increasingly tighten their parameters, and newsletters sent from free-mail addresses are automatically blocked or marked as spam.

For error-free delivery of bulk emails, you must use your own domain-verified DMARC (or Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance) technology using DNS records. This is the process by which e-mail recipients control the e-mail sender.

Why can I only send from a verified domain and what does it mean?

Domain verification using DNS records give Ecomail the assurance that he can send your newsletters from your domain. This enables Ecomail to guarantee the highest delivery of your newsletters.

What if I do not have my own domain?

If you only use free-mail addresses (@ mail.co.uk, @ gmail.com, etc.) for your correspondence, you need to set up your own domain for bulk mailing. You create a domain with a hosting such as webhosting.uk.com or websupport.cz and others.

How do I verify my domain so I can distribute newsletters?
To send with Ecomail, you need to verify the domain:

A) 3rd order domain (@ mailing.ecomail.cz) using CNAME records - recommended
B) 2nd order domain (@ ecomail.cz) using DKIM and SPF records
C) for even better delivery, verify the tracking domain using another CNAME record

A) To validate a 3rd-order domain (so-called BOUNCE domains), you need to create a domain for bulk mail distribution (such as @ mailing.ecomail.cz) for your hosting. For the 3rd order domain, you will add CNAME records according to this help. No other records (SPF and DKIM) need to be added to the domain.

1. Log in to your hosting

2. Select the domain to verify from which you want to send your newsletters (e.g. mailing.ecomail.cz)

3. Select the Edit DNS record option

4. Fill in the entry for CNAME (Bounce)

Name: mailing.ecomail.cz

Value: sparkpostmail.com

5. Do not fill in DKIM here

6. Do not fill out the SPF record here

B) To verify a 2nd-order domain, you need to add a DKIM and a SPF record to the domain. This type of verification is for a case where you cannot, or for some reason you do not want to, send your emails from the 3rd order domain. However, this may result in worse delivery than in the previous case. Here's how.

1. Log in to your hosting

2. Select the domain to verify from which you want to send your newsletters

3. Select the Edit DNS record option

4. Fill in the DKIM record

Type: TXT

Name: ecomail._domainkey

Value: v=DKIM1; k=rsa; h=sha256; p=MIGfMA0GCSqGSIb3DQEBAQUAA4GNADCBiQKBgQC0diuxLOeJJuRRu6v4Xnau70JIEEFGnkiiu6PK3i+1pGKyoLOyJFzk+Ah8zRoujJSzv95nxtDYERVpGxfgu+JXkV3ZDJucMkd/SxKIQ8pJ0Uk1MKKkUFnYgvOxW5Umq8VNpstZZfjhCRcYgb1Iw+oFabBbfShIM98yuaN7Q7KKcQIDAQAB

5. Fill in the SPF record

Type: TXT

Name: * Some hosts do not support * so if the SPF record is not authenticated, place the star instead of @ or leave the field blank.

Value: v=spf1 a mx include:sparkpostmail.com ?all

6. Be sure to confirm the changes

7. Now the DNS records are added to your hosting. Within 48 hours, changes should be reflected. You can check the domain verification status in your account in the domain section by clicking "Check DNS settings"

What if my domain already contains one SPF record?

If your domain already contains one SPF entry, add a new section to this record:

E.g.: v=spf1 a mx include:smtp1.uservoice.com include:sparkpostmail.com ?all

C) To verify the tracking domain, you need to add a CNAME record according to this manual. Regardless of your second or third-order sending domain, you set a tracking domain such as track.ecomail.cz (not track.mailing.ecomail.cz).
